…Probably one of my favorite kinds of trees. Beautiful in all seasons and especially generous when the pages of ones journal are all used up.
I have noticed that birch trees have become incredibly popular in home decorating projects. I was inspired to use them in our new home, but didn’t want to spend the money on expensive rolls of designer wall paper. I didn’t even want to cover an entire room- just a little ‘pop’ for our front entryway. And so, I dusted off the ol’ paint brush and got to work! It feels good to be back!
Years ago, I took a class taught by Russel Norbert at his Paper Birch Gallery in Nisswa, MN. He is an amazing watercolor artist, who has a thing or two to teach us about painting birch trees! (Check out his site at http://www.lifesabirch.com. (Don’t you just love that name!?))
Though the lessons I learned were in watercolor, I was able to apply some of the same techniques to my acrylic mural. (Thanks mom for the refresher course (on perspective) over the phone!)
Enjoy a few pictures of the process.
